Mechanical Term Service Contract 2015
Following Zenith Energy’s acquisition on Bantry Bay Storage Terminal in 2014 MSL were retained as the sole Mechanical Term Contractor onsite. MSL have a full time presence on the island to carry out all mechanical maintenance work at the terminal and any capital project work that arises.Value: €1,000,000 per annum

Phillips 66, Whitegate Refinery, Cork, Ireland
Turnaround 2014
The Phillips66 Whitegate Refinery Turnaround 2014 involved eight months planning, preparation and pre-turnaround fabrication of pipe-work culminating in an ambitious four week scheduled Refinery Turnaround. Both day and night work shifts were required during the four week turnaround to destruct existing pipe-work, install and test pre-fabricated pipe-work, successfully reinstate, and present to the client with a Mechanical Quality Handover Dossier incorporating the piping test-packs and associated radiographs for the 100% NDE of all tie in welds.There was peak manpower of 165 men on the project which was successfully completed without recordable injury and on schedule. Mechanical Term Service Contract 2007 – 2015
In 2007, following a competitive tender process, MSL Engineering Ltd. was awarded the Mechanical Term Service Contract, in Whitegate Refinery and Bantry Bay Storage Terminal, by who was then ConocoPhillips. This contract was renewed after two years in 2009 and following another three years was renewed again for a further three years in 2012. MSL, as the resident Mechanical Contractor, carried out both maintenance repairs for the Refinery Maintenance Lead and Capital Projects work through the site PSCS / PSDP, Jacobs Engineering.MSL averaged between 20 and 35 personnel onsite, depending on the year, and successfully completed the eight year long contract without any lost time accident. MSL’s tenure as sole Mechanical Term Contractor spanned several major milestones for the client such as two major refinery shutdowns (Turnaround 2009 and 2014) as well as many minor plant shutdowns, both planned and unplanned, and the client’s own transition from ConocoPhillips to Phillips66.

Clean Diesel HDS
MSL were appointed the sole mechanical contractor for the fabrication and installation of 20,000 metres of a new piping system. The contract also involved the erection and assembly of new equipment.Project Consultant: Jacobs (Holland)

Upgrades at Dublin, Birr & Athlone Terminals
MSL were appointed as main contractor for the upgrade of the plant depots / terminals in Dublin, Athlone and Birr. This involved the removal and re-installation of pipework and equipment. Sub contracts included all civil works. MSL were also main contractor for maintenance works completed on other terminals / depots throughout Ireland.Project Consultant: Topaz Energy

Refurbishment of Single Point Mooring (SPM)
MSL were appointed mechanical contractor for the entire mechanical refurbishment and upgrade of the 300tonne SPM. This contract involved the replacement of 24 inch Turntable Piping, PLEM Manifold, Central Piping Unit, Ancillary Steelwork, Jib Crane, Water Barrage, Mooring Platform, Launch Platform, Mooring Bridles and Anodes. ConocoPhillips Whitegate – Turnaround 2009
The ConocoPhillips Whitegate Refinery Turnaround involved six months planning, preparation and pre-turnaround fabrication of pipe-work culminating in an ambitious four week scheduled Refinery Turnaround. Both day and night work shifts were required during the four week turnaround to destruct existing pipe-work, install and test pre-fabricated pipe-work, successfully reinstate, and present to the client with a Mechanical Quality Handover Dossier incorporating the piping test-packs.

SSE, Tarbert Power Station, Co. Kerry, Ireland
Fuel Line Upgrade
MSL Engineering Ltd were appointed to inspect a HFO ringmain at Tarbert power generating station and complete such repairs to as to satisfy the Employer of the structural integrity/reliability of the ringmain and ensure continued satisfactory service. This was achieved by MSL through welding on repair saddles, repairing damaged lagging and painting the pipework.A redundant 6” steam line was also destructed, this pipe has caused the existing dual purpose supports to become corroded. These were blasted and painted after the removal of the pipe. All vents and drains were examined and remedial work was carried out as deemed necessary. A Sydall Clamp was installed where a vent or drain was deemed too badly corroded to repair. All works were carried out without incident.

Tedcastle Aviation Fuels, Shannon, Co.Clare
Refurbishment and Upgrade of a 1.75km Fuel Supply Line
MSL were appointed by Tedcastle Aviation Fuels for the Upgrade of a 1.75km, 8 inch Fuel Supply Line from their Jetty Off-loading Facility on the Shannon Estuary to their Tank Farm Depot at Shannon Airport. This project involved the replacement of all pipe supports, shot blasting & painting of the entire pipe line and temporary lifting of line using custom – built Lifting Rigs.
